Dr. Rawia Mohamed is head of department and consultant anatomical pathologist at Burjeel Medical City. With over 15 years of experience in surgical pathology, her areas of expertise include neuropathology and gastrointestinal pathology. Dr. Mohamed is also a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Khalifa University. In addition to her clinical and educational work, Dr. Mohamed is a member of the International Academy of Pathologists, the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia, the Hong Kong Shanghai Brain Consortium, and the Emirates Pathology Society.
Dr. Mohamed received her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from King Abdul Aziz University where she was awarded several excellence awards for consecutive years. After that, she went on to complete her residency program in anatomical pathology and cytology at Prince of Wales Hospital followed by a fellowship in neuropathology with one of the world's most renowned neuropathologists, Prof. HK. NG. In 2011, she was also awarded a fellowship from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA).
Dr. Mohamed has extensive anatomical pathology experience across an array of sub-specialties and disease states, including neuropathology, liver disease, women's health, and a full spectrum of oncology (including hematopathology, breast and GI pathology, uropathology).
