Aimed at empowering nursing professionals, this workshop focuses on utilising AI-driven technologies and digital solutions to enhance patient care, improve clinical decision-making, and optimise nursing workflows. Selected case studies evaluating AI applications in nursing will demonstrate significant improvements in diagnostic accuracy achieved through AI tools. Participants will engage in practical activities, and case study evaluationsshowcasing notable AI chatbots, for example when used to enhance patient engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, the workshop addresses analysing current nursing workflows with redesign exercises to optimise nursing workflows through digital tools and AI solutions. Ethical implications surrounding AI use, particularly regarding algorithmic bias and patient data privacy, are critically discussed. During the workshop, participants engage in hands-on activities that focus on creating BPMN diagrams, allowing them to visualise healthcare workflows and comprehend the intricate interplay of tasks, roles, and resources involved in nursing processes. This practical engagement is supported by an exploration of real-world examples, including the integration of electronic health records (EHRs) in oncology, which helps track treatment plans and improve continuity of care. The workshop also addresses the importance of clinical decision support systems (CDSS) and their role in medication management, showcasing how these tools reduce errors and enhance patient safety. Through collaborative problem-solving sessions, participants will critically assess existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and apply optimisation strategies that align with contemporary nursing practices.
